Lyman Abbott was the editor of the magazine Outlook. He felt that it was a mistake “ to turn every tree and waterfall into dollars and cents.” Outlook was instrumental in spreading of the Hetch Hetchy campaign. He was intrigued by the debate and was instructed by Robert Underwood Johnson to help publicize the debate.
